Object Description
A Louis XVI Style Patinated Bronze and Marble Jardinière, Cast In Relief With Bacchanalian Scenes Of Putti at Play, After Clodion.
The body of the jardinière or vase depicts a charming scene of putti at play in the manner of Claude Michel Clodion. The putti hold aloft attributes of Bacchus including a wine goblet and a Thysys; one putto is modelled as a fawn.
The lower section of the vase is modelled in Sarrancolin marble mounted with acanthus handles and put down on a pedestal and re-entrant plinth base.
The jardinière retains its original tin liner.
