Object Description

A Luristan adze cast from bronze featuring a long cylindrical shaft-hole leading to a slightly inclined, narrow and flat blade widening out at the curved cutting edge. The adze is unadorned, this simple type was widely used across the whole of Mesopotamia. Minor chips to the edge. Some patination to the surface.

Date: Circa 1200 – 600 BC
