Luristan Bronze Axe-Head

Object Description

A finely modelled Luristan cast bronze double axe head, composed of a long, tubular socket with a thick, ribbed rim above. The socket is decorated don each side with an anthropomorphic face, rendered in an extremely stylised manner with big, wide open eyes. The weapon displays a nice bright green patina.

Date: Circa 1800-600 BC

Object Condition

Condition: Condition: Fine, complete and intact. The piece has been mounted on a custom-made stand, ideal for display.
