Object Description

A fine Luristan spearhead cast from bronze featuring a leaf-shaped, double-edged blade with a prominent midrib. The blade tapers in to a cylindrical shank with a flaring end which leads to a square-sectioned tang that slightly curves. This ‘rat-tail’ construction inserted into a wooden shaft reduced further splitting upon use.

Date: Circa 1200-600 BC

Object Condition

Very fine condition, the blade has been professionally cleaned. The edges of the blade are slightly uneven due to age. Brown and slight green patination covers the surface.
