Mafra Palissy Majolica Fishes & Eels Wall Plate

Object Description

Mafra Portuguese Palissy Majolica wall plaque which features Three fish and two eels laying on leaves. Shellfish around the border. Brown ground version. Colouration: brown, ochre, green, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Mafra pottery.

Object Condition

Good. RESTORATION. Two filled chips to the rim. Stabilised and retouched crack to eel neck. Retouched flake to eel back. Filled chips to the foot rim on the reverse.
