Object Description
A Very Attractive Late 18th Century Mahogany Tea Caddy
Of Oblong Form With Concave Corners Having Lift Up Lid
Enclosing Three Lidded Divisions With Elegant Inlaid
Decoration Throughout
(This is quite an unusual example, constructed from good
mahogany with various different inlay techniques incorporated.
The overall condition is good and it comes with a fully
functioning lock and key. The concave corners are also
quite a rare and elegant feature. Tea was of course a precious
commodity in the 18th century and tea caddies were used to
both preserve the tea leaves and also to lock them away and
protect them from any wandering hands.)
