Mahogany Library Bracket Clock by M.Thomas & Son, London

Finely figured Five glass mahogany case with moulded plinth and standing on brass bracket feet with Bevelled glass throughout.

Front opening door revealing the finely engraved silvered dial with Roman numerals and original ‘blued’ steel hands signed M.Thomas & Son, New road, St Georges East.

Substantial movement with pull repeat facility of fine quality with heavy brass plates and regulating pendulum. Double chain fusee movement with anchor escapement and pendulum holdfast, striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. C.1850

Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world by Brian Loomes lists Maria Thomas and son as working in London c.1857

very good condition, the clock movement has been completely stripped down and overhauled and is in full working order
