“Man Of Sorrows” Tirol Austria 14th/15th Century.
A rare and important small wooden sculpture of Christ as the Man of Sorrows.
Still with the original polychrome.
All over in original condition and old patination, no repairs.
A life size sculpture of the same subject and execution, possibly by the same sculptor is in the Parish and Pilgrimage church in Matrei am Brenner in Tirol Austria and described mid 14th Century.
Note: the original invoice of the former owner of 1966 is in our position.
High 22.5cm wide 4.5cm deep 4cm. ( sculpture only )
