This monumental marble, gilt, and patinated bronze three-piece set is a stunning example of Barbedienne’s craftsmanship during the Parisian Belle Époque. Paul Dubois’ ‘Le Courage Militaire’, a gilt and patinated bronze sculpture of a Roman warrior, sits atop the central clock and is signed ‘P. Dubois’ and ‘F. Barbedienne Fondeur’. The circular clock dial is in marble with a gilt bronze surround, mounted on a red marble case with four gilt bronze feet signed ‘F. Barbedienne / Paris’. The set also comprises two nine-light candelabra decorated similarly, all signed ‘F. Barbedienne’.
