Object Description
A stylish Doulton Lambeth Art Nouveau vase with abstract leaf designs by renowned and sought after artist Mark V Marshall dated 1905. The stoneware vase is of simple tall bulbous shape standing on a narrow unglazed foot and is decorated with incised scrolling leaf like designs with raised ribbing and is hand decorated in tones of mottled green with white and set within a natural glazed deep ridged outline with the pattern set against a dark green ground. The short funnel shaped neck is decorated in brown glazes. The vase has impressed makers marks to the base and is numbered 158 with incised initials MVM for Mark V Marshall with assistant marks for Jane Hurst and Eliza Stock. The vase also has a date mark âfâ within a shield dating the vase to 1905.
