Object Description
A Good Quality And Extremely Functional Near Matching Pair Of Well Figured Victorian Cylindrical Bedside Night Tables, or Pot Cupboards, Having Step Moulded Tops With White Veined Marble Insets, Over Full Length Doors, With Original Turned Knobs, Enclosing Fixed Shelves To Interior, Raised On Original Plinth Base.
These are a great examples of victorian cylinder bedside tables, which at some point in their history have been placed together due to their almost identical design and size, something which is extremely common due to a relentless demand over many years for matching, or similar tables either side of a bed in combination to the relative scarcity and therefore extremely high price of any true pairs which can be found on the market at any given time.
Happily, despite the very small difference in size when placed next to each each other, there is nothing which really stands out at all in terms of difference, especially when placed either side of a bed or similar.
It is actually very possible that they were made in the same workshop originally due to the similarities of their construction.
This particular design continues to prove an extremely popular option for bedside tables due to the relative sturdiness, especially when compared to various other bedside options, the storage they are able to offer and the marble tops set within a moulding which make it much less likely items perched on the top will get knocked over, or damage a wooden surface.
As with all items which we offer for sale these bedside tables have been inspected in our workshops by our highly skilled, trained traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale, ensuring that they are ready to be placed immediately into the home.
