Object Description

A small Medieval gold strap end featuring an elongated shape with curved edges creating a tongue finial. The hollow formed piece has a central raised ridge and displays two rivets used to secure to a leather strap. The reverse is plain and smooth.

Date: Circa 15th- 16th century AD

Object History

From a late Japanese specialist collector, 1970-2000s.

Object Condition

Very fine condition, few minor scratches to the surface consistent with age. Small pinprick to the end on the ridge.
