Object Description
This elegant coffee service is a refined example of Meissen porcelain, executed in the celebrated “Green Dragon” pattern, also known as “Reicher Drache”. Meissen, founded in 1710, holds the distinction of being the first European porcelain manufactory and is renowned for its exceptional quality and richly decorative designs.
The service includes a coffee pot, milk jug, cups and saucers, and matching serving pieces, all finely modelled in porcelain of graceful and well-balanced proportions. Each element is decorated with hand-painted green dragon and vine motifs, enhanced with gilded detailing along rims, handles, and edges, creating a vivid contrast of colour and luminosity.
The dragon decoration reflects the European fascination with East Asian art, reinterpreted through Meissen’s distinctive decorative language. The flowing green palette combined with gold accents highlights the elegant contours of the forms, particularly the finely shaped spouts and curved handles.
A highly decorative and collectible service, it demonstrates Meissen’s continued mastery of porcelain production and its enduring appeal within early 20th-century decorative arts.
