Dutch marquetry is a form of decoration in antique furniture which originated from the Netherlands in the 17th century and relatively quickly spread throughout Northern Europe as an alternative to intricate carved decoration. It tends to feature rich scenes and can vary wildly in terms of execution depending on the skill of the cabinet maker involved.

This little side table is really quite lovely. Constructed from good quality walnut timbers and with excellent marquetry decoration, it is also a sweet little size and just a useful piece of furniture.

In terms of its condition then that is pretty good, retaining a good colour and surface, with just a few historic blemishes and repairs, including a few bit of worn inlay. Overall though the condition is definitely good.

As with all items we offer for sale this lowboy has been inspected and attended to in our workshops by our highly skilled antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish to ensure it is ready for immediate placement within the home.
