A mid 19th century mahogany box desk on a later made stand.
The box is brass bound with military style brass handles and a Bramah lock.
The interior has an original blue and gold tooled leather writing surface with two inkwells and storage compartments.
The writing boards lift up to store stationery and the box has a secret compartment containing four small drawers under the inkwells that is opened by a spring release.
The is a full length drawer to the left hand side of the box that would have has a locking pin which is now missing.
A well made box fitted to a later made mahogany stand that could be used as a side or end table. (Circa 1850)
