Object Description
Azerbaijan has a rich history of rug weaving going back several centuries. Due to its geographic location, it stands at the crossroads of various cultures, and its carpets reflect this in their richness and beauty. As such, these pieces are highly sought-after, well-known for their wide range of designs and creative use of vegetable-dyed colours.
This charming mid-20th Century example features a series of simplified floral motifs, creatively repeated across the field in a variety of colours and forms, in a wide palette including fresh denim blues, turquoise accents, terracotta reds and camel hues, over a complimentary ivory ground, and framed by a wide border – a bold composition for a piece of this narrow format.
Retained in excellent condition, with its outer borders preserved on all sides.
A handsome tribal weaving, to suit a wide variety of interior styles.
