Minton Majolica 9 Well Mottled Oyster Plate

Object Description

Minton Majolica oyster plate which features nine shell shaped wells with seashell surrounds. Mottled ground version. Colouration: green, brown, cream, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Minton pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1867.

Object Condition

Very good. No restoration. Small flakes to reverse. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing; glaze pops to the reverse; a few specks of kiln grit caught in the glaze to the wells
