Minton Majolica Basket with Faun Handles

Object Description

Minton Majolica basket which features fauns either end, forming handles. They are holding swags, which drape around the sides. Colouration: turquoise, green, ochre, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, ‘1210’. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1871.

Object Condition

Generally good. Small chip to one faun’s garland. KILN EFFECTS: flecks of stray coloured glaze to one faun. RESTORATION. Both heads reglued and joins retouched. End section to basket reglued and join retouched.
