Object Description
Minton Majolica platter which features a portrait panel to the centre, having a bust of Shakespeare. An inscription around the rim reads, ‘HE WAS NOT OF AN AGE BUT FOR ALL TIME’. Colouration: brown, green, ochre, are predominant. The piece bears maker’s marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, ‘1105’. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1873.
