Object Description
A very fine Near Eastern ceremonial macehead carved from a striking, dappled grey granite. The mace head has a tapered shape, with a convex top and conical body. A channel runs through the length of the piece and has circular openings at either end. The polished stone has a beautiful natural pattern, with black, white, and grey tones. There are some earthly encrustations over the piece and a thicker grey residue coating the interior of the channel.
