Object Description
A fine Near Eastern ceremonial macehead, carved from stone. The macehead has a globular body which tapers towards the base creating a conical shape. There is a shaft channel running vertically through the centre of the piece. The stone contains a variety of cream and brown hues and has been polished. There are some small areas of rougher surface texture due to age and also some earthly encrustations which is present over the exterior and coating the interior of the channel.
