Object Description
Near pair of porcelain vases with Chinoiserie detailing
French, late 19th Century
Height 80cm, width 38cm, depth 30cm
These large and impressive elongated-body vases are mounted with gilt bronze dragon-form handles, with their feet and rims decorated in the Chinoiserie style. Unusually for vases of this type, the lower section is separated from the central vase section by an onyx plateau. The porcelain bodies and necks are finely decorated, each with a female figure to the front, signed ‘Dapoigny’, and a landscape scene to the reverse. The porcelain ground is painted with Arabic style designs, each with slight differences.
