Object Description

This quality crested and armorial George II silver straight sided coffee pot was made in London in 1737 by Messrs Gurney & Cooke and measures almost 9 inches tall by 7.25 inches handle to spout and is 4.75 inches in dia across the base, it has a beautifully engraved cartouche encompassing a coat of arms and crest above, the cast swan neck spout has a large acanthus leaf to the underside and a graduated drop design where it attaches to the body, the cast collets for the scrolled wooden handle are of a scroll and graduated drop design to the top one and a scroll to the bottom one, it has a domed and hinged lid with a bell shaped finial and a stepped skirt border and is fully and clearly hallmarked underneath, a lovely quality pot in excellent condition weighing 24.65 ounces or 767 grams.
