Object Description
This rare George III silver sugar bowl was made in London in 1774 by William Cripps 5.25 inches in dia by 3 inches tall, it has a shaped and turned over quilt engraved border leading down into an embossed and engraved body that has three cartouches around it, the first is vacant the second cartouche has a poppy head flower and the third cartouche has a peacock and tree in it, also amongst the patterning there is the embossed head of a dog either side of each foot, it stands on three cast and shell feet and is fully and clearly hallmarked underneath, a very pretty bowl with a lot going on and in very good condition weighing 6.65 ounces or 203 grams.
