The Nicholas Parsons Collection

An early 19th Century Equestrian Hunting Scene Etching titled ‘A Good One….’Panorama of a Fox Hunt’ by Henry Thomas Alken, 1784-1851, Published by R. Ackermann, Junior, 191 Regent Street, London, January 1st, c.1828. Contemporary hand coloured in watercolour and later gilt wood framed.

The etching is sub titled “A Good One – But behind from a fall, and Down again. Podge at a Gate – by some of all sorts- mostly Bad. No Judgement at all. Excefsive Polite. more judgement that Pluck.”

Provenance: The late Nicholas Parsons, CBE. Actor, Comedian, Broadcaster, Wit and Raconteur. Host of BBC Radio programme Just a Minute 1967-2019.
