Object Description
Nineteenth Century Ziegler Sultanabad Carpet
4.23 x 3.33 m
This attractive rug belongs to a group of carpets specifically commissioned in west Persia during the Late 19th century to complement European furnishing tastes. They are unique due to their grand scale drawings, quiet formality and use of soft understated colours and are often seen in grand stately homes in Europe and the UK. Antique Ziegler carpets work well in modern spaces as they have the aesthetic ability to unite and balance both classic and contemporary design elements.
A wonderful c. 1880 Ziegler Sultanabad carpet with a rare sky blue field, framed by artistic design with a wide ivory border. The harmonious colours are naturally dyed and have aged nicely. The drawing is pleasantly simple in comparison to other examples of its type.
This antique Ziegler Sultanabad carpet is very well preserved for every day use, still retaining its original plain borders on all sides.
A highly decorative example with the versatility to complement contemporary or classic settings.
