An Old Babylonian terracotta plaque depicting Nergal, god of the netherworld. He is displayed in an abstract manner with a semioval head and his iconic jewelled locks. Neatly incised horizontal registers portray his fringed robe around his neck and he holds a scimitar across his body. The reverse remains unadorned.

Fine condition, some wear along with minor cracks and perforations consistent with age. Small repair to one of the edges. Encrustation to the surface.
