Pen, ink and watercolour with traces of etched outline.
Joseph Farington’s primary drawing of this subject was done in 1789 and is held by the Museum of London. A print of it was published in 1790 by W. Bryn of Titchfield Street, engraved by J.C. Stadler.
It proved popular and many variations subsequently followed including etched outline with watercolour.
The present work is presented in a fine antique rosewood frame.
