Object Description

A very large scale original Art Deco period fire basket constructed from cast aluminium with a polished finish, attributed to Bratt Colbran.

Dating from the early 20th century, this fire grate is large and oversized, its striking design making a stylish focal point of an Art Deco or modern property.

Established in 1909, Bratt Colbran & Co Ltd of Oxgate Lane, Cricklewood, London were English manufacturers of stoves, heaters and fireplaces. Heavy and substantially constructed, this fire grate is testament to the company’s esteemed craftsmanship, having stood the test of time for more than a century!

Object Condition

Good structural condition. The original electric heating elements have been removed. This can be supplied with a grill if required. This grate is not suitable for solid fuels. Advice should be sought regarding suitability for use with electricity or gas. Wear consistent with age and use. Minor Losses, scuffs, and scratches.

FROM THE M50 / ROSS-ON-WYE

At the end of the M50, take the A40 towards Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth. Take the A49 Hereford Road (third roundabout after leaving the M50). Ignore the first two signposts for Wormelow, stay on the A49 for approximately nine miles and take the next left turn after passing the Pilgrim Hotel, signed A466 Wormelow. Follow the road for approximately 400 meters. We are located halfway down the hill on the right-hand side. The site is called: Grove Farm / The Grove.

FROM A49 HEREFORD

Follow the A49 south from Hereford for approximately five miles. After the uphill section at the Callow, there is a layby on your right followed by one on your left. Take the next right turn onto the A466 signed Wormelow / Monmouth. Follow the road for approximately 400 meters. We are located halfway down the hill on the right-hand side. The site is called: Grove Farm / The Grove.
