Ormolu and Porcelain Panel Mantel Clock

Ormolu figural mantel clock with beautifully cast maiden in flowing robes holding a bunch of grapes towards a cherub. Fine quality chased ormolu mounts with hand painted porcelain panel to the front. The clock standing on it’s original shaped gilded base with red velvet covering, the case numbered 4994.
Gilded chased bezel, enamel dial with Roman numerals and original ‘blued’ steel Moonpoise hands signed A.B.Savory & Sons, Cornhill and numbered 22833.
Eight day French movement with anchor escapement striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. The backplate also marked for A.B.Savory & Sons, stamped for J.B.D and numbered 22633. C.1860
Jean-Baptiste Delettrez is recorded in Tardy’s’Dictionnaire Des Horogers Francais’ as working originally in Paris from Rue De Berry Au Marais in 1850 then moving to Rue Charlot in 1890
Watchmakers and Clockmakers of the world by Brian Loomes lists A.B.Savory & Sons as working in London from 1839-1863.

Object Condition

very good condition, the clock movement has been completely stripped down and overhauled and is in full working order
