Object Description
Ormolu mounted celadon porcelain and pâte-sur-pâte vase-form lamp
French, Late 19th Century
Height 52cm, width 23cm, depth 17cm
Consisting of gilt-bronze handles and mounts, pâte-sur-pâte floral sprays on front and back, and a celadon overglaze, this beautiful vase-form lamp is crafted from porcelain, and was made in France in the late nineteenth century.
Slender, elegant ormolu mounts comprise the handles on either side, consisting of various bands and finials, crafted in a style not similar to Louis XVI neoclassicism, and gilt-bronze makes up the mount and the neck. A celadon glaze gives the piece its distinctive glow and finish, and the piece is finished with very fine pâte-sur-pâte floral motifs on either side.
