A fine early aneroid barometer by Pillischer of New Bond St,London.The veneered mahogany case having the original untouched rococo ormolu mounts .English Circa 1860..
Moritz Pillischer is listed as having been at 419 and 398 Oxford St ,London between 1851-1853.He then moved a short distance to New Bond Street from 1854-87 and was succeeded by his nephew Jacob in 1888.He advertised that the Family had won medals from 1851 through to 1878 and was listed as an exhibitor at The Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1851.The Instrument maker won The Imperial Francis Joseph Order Gold Medal in Paris in 1889.
