Object Description
A spectacular ornately carved Victorian oak fire surround. Although spuriously carved with the date 1656 to the frieze, this fireplace dates from the 1870s during the height of the Victorian era. It is elaborately carved throughout with figures, cherub masks, lion heads, birds, scrolling foliage and egg and dart detail, making for an impressive surround in any setting. It is inscribed to the reverse with the initials ‘EHB’.
