Pair Antique Georgian Silkwork Embroideries

Object Description

Pair Georgian Antique Silkwork Embroidery Pictures. Framed in an old, gilded, gesso frame with rippled, old glass. Tacked to board. Card and brown paper backing. The embroidery is worked in silk on silk ground, in a variety of stitches. Colours gold, brown, cream, green, blue and black. Pictorial scenes, one depicting a girl playing a harp, the other with a girl gazing out a window.

Object Condition

Good. No holes. No stains. A few of the harp strings damaged. Uniform age-darkening of the ground, but, colours are still good and strong. No colour run. New black mount cards. Frames structurally sound and in our opinion ready to hang on the wall.
