A fine pair of mid-18th century mahogany Dutch torcheres. The quatrefoil tops with moulded edge on double baluster shaped triform stems on a tripod base with cabriole legs carved at the knee, terminating and ball and claw feet.
On first sight one would think they are English but from an aesthetic point the claw and ball foot is much more slender than most English ones from this period but the defining explanation of the torcheres being Dutch rather than English is that the tops are veneered onto oak (image attached) and English ones would be solid mahogany.
Ancient repair to one foot, completely stable and usable.
Wonderful colour and patina throughout.
By appointment only.
