Object Description
A rare pair of large American silver mugs of plain baluster form spreading onto a circular domed foot.
Each mug is beautifully engraved with contemporary script initials “A B”.
The mugs were made in c. 1855 by Mortimer Eoff and George. L. Shepard of New York who worked exclusively for the retailers Ball, Black & Company. Eoff and Shepard were working 1852 – 1860.
The mugs are larger than normal and will contain about 660 ml each (about 1.15 UK pints – 1.45 US pints).
A fine pair of mugs in excellent condition.
