The porcelain lamps in this pair are striking examples of the Louis XV style. The bodies of the lamps are modelled as vases, with each vase featuring a body with a domed lower section, a cylindrical meridian, and a concave upper portion. Each vase is supported above a socle, and each terminates in a broad, flared rim, which overhangs and is pierced. The bodies of the vases are extensively parcel gilt and finished with an abundance of painted floral designs, all in the pastel shades that evince the Rococo. The bodies are mounted with twin gilt porcelain handles, each scrolling handle moulded with a host of foliate detailing.
