Object Description
A tribal pair of antique Kurdish weavers of the North-West of Persia, woven in the late 19th century, with abstract designs in the main field, and lovely people in the design too! The border design is a longer version of the Boteh design, woven with great skill. The sandy tone background is a great base colour with the greens, pinks and darker blues. A great abstract design which is almost contemporary in style. Both of these runners are in excellent original condition. With only minimal damage at one end of a runner, again this can be repaired if easily.
One runner measures 507 x 118 cm and the other measures slightly shorter at 477 x 125 cm wide at its widest point.
Woven in a loom in the ground, these were often taken up when the Kurd weavers would move onto pastures new. So they were rarely completely straight, these runners are very close to being straight. This adds a great deal to these collectable and beautiful runners in our opinion, and when laid flat on the floor with our underlay it would look superb, bringing colour and charm to a space.
Visit our barn showroom in Crondall, Surrey, we are open Monday to Saturday by appointment. Or allow us to visit you with these rare pair of antique runners so you can trial them at home soon.
