Object Description

A pair of antique late 19th century Maw & Co tiles from Broseley Salop workshops in Shropshire.

In turquoise and dark navy blue majolica glaze, one 6-inch tile is decorated with the portraits of Greek noblemen wearing an olive wreath, together with the companion tile depicting the profile of a female wearing a fruiting vine wreath.

Dating to circa 1880, these striking tiles have been in use for over 140 years and as such have a characterful, timeworn look.

The perfect decorative set for modern and period properties looking to add vibrancy and charm.

There is a makers mark to the reverse side.
