Object Description

Pair of antique silver vases
Continental, Late 19th Century
Height 32cm, diameter 20cm

Crafted in the late 19th century, the design of these elegant vases is inspired by the Rococo style of the 18th century.

The bulbous bodies taper towards the bottom and are adorned with a plethora of floral decorations. These have been carefully chased and embossed to create a three-dimensional design. The vase bowls are richly adorned with further nature-inspired motifs in addition to various musical instruments such as a harp. The plain neck wonderfully balances out the remaining richly decorated parts of the silver antiques. A dainty pinecone finial is hanging from the base of each vase body.

The vases are supported on three slender legs, their tops decorated with a female mask. This design feature adds another interesting aspect to the pieces.

Together the pieces weigh approximately 1,308 grammes.

Of a charming design celebrating the French Rococo style, this pair of vases is a very desirable addition to one’s collection of silver.
