Object Description

These exceptional antique sterling silver sauce boats are of oval form in a classic style. The shaped body of each piece is plain and unembellished, with an applied gadroon and shell decorated border to the shaped rim.
The sauce boats are fitted with exceptional cast sterling silver opposing scroll handles, featuring a leaf decorated scrolling thumbpiece. The boats are supported on impressive cast feet.
These sauce boats are a direct copy of 1740/50s originals by Lamerie and other important makers .
They are very heavy with a large capacity. Each sauce boat holds approximately 550 ml, nearly 1 UK pint , together 1100 ml , 2 UK pints.
