With bodies of fine, translucent hand-carved rock crystal accented with silver gilt mounts; the candlestick base mounts decorated with neo-Gothic style patterns and masked faces.
The neo-Gothic style was a movement that began in England during the mid-18th Century. Popularity of the neo-Gothic style grew rapidly in the early 19th Century, and spread from England into the rest of Europe. The trend continued for the duration of the 19th Century, and remained the primary architectural style of choice for ecclesiastical and university structures well into the 20th Century.
