Object Description
A pair of fine quality late 19th century (circa 1890) French Directoire style mahogany bedside cabinets.
This pair of cabinets each consist of a square green marble top, probably verde antico, surrounded by a brass moulding leading down to an oak lined drawer, the mahogany drawer front recessed with brass moulded decoration and central brass knob handle with small recessed brass panel to either side with brass moulding below.
Each of the tops is supported by four elegant turned mahogany columns with brass fluted decoration and brass collars to both the top and bottom.
This leads down to the lower section having a mahogany top with brass moulded edge with a mahogany door to the front with brass moulding, paterae and brass knob handle with fluted design to either side, the interior of each cupboard fitted with marble.
The sides and back having recessed mahogany panels, the cabinets supported on turned mahogany feet with brass collars.
This pair of cabinets are in very good condition for age, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home – although these are bedside cabinets they could really be used in any room or setting.
