Object Description
A fine pair of large early George III silver Corinthian column candlesticks which stand on square bases with decorative chasing.
To one side of the base, it bears a contemporary crest engraved in the cartouche.
The detachable nozzles are similarly crested. The capitals are finely pierced (a feature that is generally only found on column candlesticks of the 1760s and 1770s).
They are in good condition and are well hallmarked on the bases and detachable nozzles.
They are made by one of the most famous silversmiths of the period – Emick Romer who was Norwegian by birth.
