Object Description

A delightful pair of George III antique silver entree dishes which are of rectangular shape with fine gadroon borders.
The dishes are engraved on each of the lids with the coat of arms of Sir Benjamin Hobhouse (1757 – 1831) and to the interior of the bases.
The original detachable finials were made by William Pitts in the same year. The finials are formed as Sir Benjamin’s family crest, which are a very attractive feature.
A fine pair of dishes with an interesting history.
Dimensions: length 28.5 cm, width 21.2 cm; weight 108 troy oz.
