Object Description
A pair of exceptional antique sterling silver early George III sauce boats of plain oval form onto oval-shaped pedestal feet. The body is plain and unembellished, but the rim has a gadroon border. The scroll handles are embellished with leaf decorated thumb pieces. The beautiful cast, shape feet are pierced giving a scrolling effect.
The sauce boats were made by the royal goldsmith to the King, Thomas Heming.
These sauceboats are made in the French taste, which was very fashionable amongst the upper echelons of English society at the time.
