Object Description

An elegant pair of George III three light candelabra. Each have a fluted stem and stand on a circular base with a ribbon-tied border.
The branches terminate in faceted spool-shaped sockets with a detachable nozzle. There is a further central socket with an alternate detachable finial and nozzle, which can turn the candelabra into a two light. The branches pull-off and one can use them as candlesticks alone.
The candelabra are hallmarked on the bases, branches, nozzles and finials. The bases are filled with the original mahogany inserts.
A very high quality pair and they have the benefit of being three light (whereas the majority of pre-1800 candelabra are two light).
Dimensions: height 42.5 cm, span 41.91 cm, width (of base) 12.7 cm; weight (of branches) 52 oz 15 dwt.
