Pair of Italian Mid-18th Century Baroque Painted and Silvered Sconces or Wall Lights

Object Description

Pair of pale blue painted and silvered girandoles or sconce with two metal candle supports. The broadly symmetrical carving displays silvered scrolls and acanthus leaves contrasting with the blue surface decoration. The mirror glass and the silvered surfaces reflect the candlelight to increase the volume of light.
Two quite eccentric and decorative pieces.

Object Condition

Very good; the paintwork and silverwork have been overpainted at some point but appears now coherent in what is believed its actual design scheme.; wear consistent with age and use – detailed condition report on request
