Object Description
Circa 1890 with restorations, pair of inlaid mahogany kneehole desks by Maple and Co. of London. The inlaid rectangular tops have gilt-tooled burgundy writing surfaces and are above a central frieze drawer decorated with marquetry, satinwood inlay and boxwood and ebony stringing. They have embossed brass handles and are flanked by banks of 3 conforming drawers and pilasters with inlaid shells and trailing bellflowers. Both are standing on 6 inlaid tapering square legs over brass castors.
