Pair of large giltwood mirrors, Louis XVI style, Italian late 19th century

Object Description

Pair of large scale giltwood mirrors in the style of Louis XVI, the frames elaborately carved and pierced, each with an integral finial carved as flowers in a basket. The foxed mirror plates are original but one has a split (in two parts) main plate and the other is one piece of glass. Italy, late 19th century circa 1890.

Object Condition

Very good. Very slight losses to the original gilding and small losses to the extremities of the carving. One small piece of mirror in the pierced frame is cracked across and one of the main mirror plates is a “split” plate but original, see detailed image.
